Our weekend trip to Aiken State Park didn’t happen, but it’s
still on our to-do list.
Weekends were
shifted due to kids’ activities and we haven’t scheduled a makeup yet.
This past weekend we went to Poinsett State Park for a 3-day
getaway.
Saturday morning we left home
and drove for an hour to get there.
Poinsett SP is nicknamed “The Mountains of the Midlands” and we fully
agree!
We were just so surprised to see
the rolling hills and twisty, curvy steep “mountain” roads.
(Well, steep to us flatlanders!)
The park opened in 1934 and was built by the
CCC.
Thank you to all of the workers – it’s
gorgeous!
There is a 10 acre mill pond
and ruins of a pre-Revolutionary mill.
