Introduction

This blog is dedicated to the homemade meals that my husband Bill and I make for our children; we got married and blended our families in February of 2013. My son used to live with us (hence the name Homemade Meals for 6, but a few months ago he moved to Florida to live with his father.)  My husband's kids visit us every other weekend -- a 14 year old boy and fraternal twin 11 year old girls.

Our take on life is simple -- meal time is family time.  No TV. No phones at the table.  Music sometimes (usually set on the 70s channel!)  We sit at the dining room table, using proper place settings.  Every meal. We have come to realize that most families eat fast food at least several times a week and they grab whatever out of the fridge and eat it in front of the TV.  So on weeknights, it's the 2 of us for dinner, and every other weekend, we have all 5 together.

The recipes I post on here could be from any of the following:
  • from Bill's family
  • from my family
  • from a cookbook
  • from a magazine
  • from a website/cooking blog
  • something we've come up with
In any case, I'll give credit to the source and link to it if possible.

I usually take pictures of our meals, and I'm still learning.  So please forgive me if the pictures aren't perfectly lit or proportioned, but I'll do my best and after all, practice can only make me get better.  If I get a recipe from someone's blog or other online source, I won't use their photo.  And yep:  sometimes I get the food on the table and we start eating -- then I remember the camera on the counter!  Sooooo...maybe every recipe won't have a photo.  Not the end of the world.
